Are you fighting your feelings?

Are you fighting your feelings?

From the society we get a feeling that we always need to feel happy and content. Actually, it is very normal to have a bad day. Feeling sad, angry or anxious is very normal. It is about how we cope with those feelings. One of the coping strategies is just letting them be there. Not fighting what we are feeling and they will go away. Some imagination and verbal exercises will help us by accepting those feelings.

A metaphor will be with our feelings and rope pulling game: On one side of the rope are your feelings pulling the rope.  On the other side of the rope are you also pulling the rope trying to get win. If you will pull the rope too, you will lose energy and eventually get tired of it. Even if you pull very hard and win, a new feeling will eventually come and you will have to pull again. But If you choose to let loose of the rope,  the feelings will still be there, but it won’t cost you any energy.
